Description
ESS Earth Sciences supply and support a variety of combined wind speed and direction sensors. The WSD-Series combines an anemometer and wind vane in a single instrument. They are robust enough for gale-force winds at sea, but with the accuracy for meteorological research.
As we offer a large variety of wind speed and direction sensors we encourage you to contact us to discuss your requirements in detail. We can ensure your sensor will measure the correct ranges and provide the appropriate outputs. We will respond to all enquiries within 4 business hours.
Available ANEmometer and Wind Vane Ranges
- 0.3 m/s to 50 m/s
- 0.5 m/s to 75 m/s
- 0.3 m/s to 60 m/s
- All wind vanes measure a 0 to 360 degree range.
AVAILABLE OUTPUTS
Our wind speed and direction sensors are available with a variety of outputs. It is possible to combined some outputs.
- 3 to 1042 Hz
- 5 to 745 Hz
- 0 to 20 mA
- 4 to 20 mA
- 0 to 10 V
- 0 to 5 V
- 8-Bit Serial Synchron
- 8- Bit Parallel
Metal is used for combined anemometers and wind vanes construction. Offering, reliability and longevity of life. Even more robust materials are used for versions designed for mounting on ships. This protects the instrument from the saltier environment and from damage due to exceptionally strong winds.
Anemometers are of a cupped design made from anodised aluminium. The wind vane bow is constructed of stainless steel.
Heating is available to guarantee the smooth running of the internal ball bearings in extremely cold environments.
How to mount WSD-Series sensor
Mount the wind speed and direction sensor to a mast or tube. The mast or tube must have an internal diameter of at least 40mm to allow cables to run down into it.
