Description

SOLYS2 Sun Tracker

The Kipp and Zonen SOLYS2 sun tracker has Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN) levels of performance and reliability. As a result, the SOLYS2 is perfect for solar energy and meteorological applications. Mount up to three ventilated pyranometers and 5 pyrheliometers. With shadow ring and shadow, balls’ total solar irradiance data (DHI, GNI, and DIF)  can be measured.

Further, as an advance over conventional sun trackers, the SOLYS2 comes with an integrated GPS receiver to automatically configure location and time data upon installation. Consequently, the SOLYS2 does not require a computer and software for setup.

The rugged and distinctive cast aluminum housing has an integrated tripod stand with leveling feet, azimuth adjustment, and provision for tie-down bolts. A side plate with zenith adjustment and mountings for a Kipp & Zonen CHP1 pyrheliometer is included.

An integrated GPS receiver in the SOLYS2 updates the internal clock. As a result, the internal clock does not suffer from drift. The SOLYS2 will continue to point accurately when leveled and aligned on a stable support. An optional sun sensor is available for active tracking, to correct for motion in support affected by changing environmental conditions.
